Pretty massive episode for reveals surrounding Hinako and Shiori. With the reveal that Shiori gave her blood to Hinako in the past, and Hinako’s fast healing. Mermaid blood has always been associated with immortality, or at least healing fast enough to appear like it, and the state that Hinako should have been in given the rest of her family passed away in the crash. Shiori must have given Hinako some of her blood and saved her life, the first question is why of course. But also, why did Shiori return? Is she perhaps feeling she made the incorrect choice seeing how Hinako is now, and her desire to join her family.

Ayame is also a major role in the episode of course, with her being the driving force of the revelations. But also a pretty sad backstory, seemingly of a woman who hated her family for whatever reason and ended up dying. But those feelings allow her to survive as a Yokai, though I don’t really understand that process. It is probably better for Hinako that Ayame survived, as she was probably too human for Hinako to see die and be perfectly fine with it.
