Dad is a Hero, Mom is a Spirit, I’m a Reincarnator : Episode 12

It is finally over, this really terrible story that was told here. Which I have also gone ahead and reread the manga of before this episode just to remember where this all goes. And I have to say, it doesn’t really get better. Or at least it goes in a completely different direction that just feels kinda odd after everything that happens.

But for the anime, and this episode in general. There is no way you can look at this story and place the spirits and Ellen as anything but the villains and antagonists in this story. Ellen purposefully withheld the medicine that could save people from the plague, and also created rumors that intentionally drove people to the capital to cause riots over medicine. And than used the plague to enrich their lands and benefit from the situation that they helped cause. I’m honestly shocked at this point the King doesn’t straight up expel the Vankreift family from the kingdom for just how much disregard they have for their King.

There are honestly so many interesting directions that this story could have gone in. But I think the author has chosen the worst and most boring versions of any of them with their current plot lines and characters. And by the end of the show, I just want to see somebody rewrite this story in which the human kingdom just completely turn their backs on the spirits who apparently hate them for crimes their ancestors committed. Instead turning to technology and human ingenuity to advance themselves without the spirits.
