Robotics;Notes : Episode 14

Seems like it should be a major episode for the development of Kona, with her finally deciding to leave the house and join the club. Along with I guess her falling in love with Kaito. And yet at the same time it continues to have the issues I mentioned in the previous episode, it just doesn’t feel like it should work. You just watched a couple of high school kids just stop a robot uprising caused by some group brainwashing somebody, whose plans are to apparently destroy all life on the planet and escape to Mars. The whole thing is just a very crazy story, and it doesn’t work all that well for me.

And of course you still have the issue that I don’t understand what any of these parts of the story have to do with each other. You have a robotics club building a robot, Kona and Kill Ballad, and secret plans revealed through strange Geo-caches about a group who wants to kill billions of people. None of the shows arcs feel very well connected. I don’t see how say Akiho could help Kona with Kill Ballad issue, or how Junna has any role to play in anything.

It might be better in the visual novel. But at the moment nothing as changed for me, it just doesn’t feel nearly as strong as a story as Steins Gate.
