.hack//Quantum : Episode 1

I watched the original .hack//Sign some time ago now. And, it was decent but not amazing at all. And, I think I would say this short series is off to a similar start. Of being decent but nothing special.

To start with, I really do like the characters. They don’t get a ton of development yet in this first episode. And I largely doubt they will get an insane amount over the course of the show. But if I enjoy them enough from the start I think I’ll be happy with it.

Visually the show is actually better than I expected. Some of the action scenes actually looked really good. And just stood out overall from what I expected. It does have some pretty big issues with cgi. It randomly adds in cgi for some shots and characters, and just looks really ugly and out of place.

The story will disappoint me I figure. It will be like the original was for me. Where it was a decent and enjoyable story. But I’m going to guess it will come off feeling like something is lacking. Also I still can’t get around to liking the something happens in the video game and effects real life story lines the .hack stories have. Always comes off being a bit silly.
