And we get the second episode of Loids backstory arc, and it is a very dark story. Basically of Loid losing everything in the beginning of the war and how this whole thing started. And as an original manga reader who hasn’t reread the manga, it feels rather original. Simply because of how long this series has been running really at this point.

While this is a very dark episode arc. And is important for learning about his backstory. I still wish they would combine this dark stuff with more of the comedic stuff in a better method. I haven’t felt like the threat of this war is ever present in the actual day to day story, or even hinted at. And even the moments when the characters have some fight it just feels more comedic.
