OVERTAKE! : Episode 12

Well, that was exactly the way I would have wanted this show to end. With Haruka finally getting his podium finish on the last episode. And without much drama or issues in getting it, just some good and enjoyable racing. While I can’t say I loved the entire show, or the pacing of it all, this was a very good episode and a very enjoyable show in general. And was far better than MF Ghost to me, which I’m still trying to convince myself to finish.

Troyca really went all out on this final episode I can say, that was some absolutely amazing animation and visuals in this final episode. It was all so fluid and the pacing was perfecting. Honestly this final episode is probably some of the best animation I’ve watched all season. But going back to comparisons with MF Ghost, this is what I want from a racing anime when it comes to visuals. Just watching some animated cars isn’t very interesting, but once you give the animation that next step up with movement and momentum. Really build up a personal story between the drivers and the reasons behind the race. It just comes together so well to create a very memorable episode and show.

Honestly, I hope this show encourages more racing oriented shows in the future. That play to the strengths of anime in creating something unique and interesting and honestly new. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an anime that manages to portray racing the same way as Overtake.
