86 EIGHTY-SIX : Episode 5
Holy shit, this was an intense episode. So much was learned, so much to process. Things like finally knowing what Undertaker’s goal is, reaching and killing his brother to finally give him peace. But also the stuff about the Legion and Black Sheep army, though I feel like army of the dead is more apt.
Really it all leads into what I figured in the beginning, that the Republic had no way to truly win this war. They had too far few troops and were relying on the idea that it would all be over soon, but if it isn’t. Well they have no obvious contingency plans at all. The army is under equipped and has far too few troops to maintain what is essentially a state of constant siege. Inside the walls they seem to be lured into a false belief they already won, and no longer focus on the siege they don’t directly see. When they should be directing all their abilities into new technology and war time developments, they have gotten distracted.
It does make me wonder, when did this all start. Like if we work under the assumption that this was a normal Country at one time, before they retreated to a single city and forced the undesirables outside to fight this war. Did military development and fighting from those inside stop suddenly after the walls went up, or was it a gradual thing. Generation after generation not directly interacting with the war, and therefore forgetting it existed to the point we reach now.
Or are we missing a major plot point somewhere. Is the peace and calm of the city always been a facade that the majority of the population only knows. Meanwhile in the dark cambers of the government and military they already know many of the things that are happening. They know about the Legion’s numbers and the falling Republic troop numbers. And working to find a solution to the troubles, but are finding they are just too late to really achieve any goals.
Man, I really want to learn more about what is going on and see where this goes. I never expected this show to grab me so much.
