SPY x FAMILY Season 2 : Episode 2/3

Episodes like this make me realize how directionless the manga has become once it gets animated. Nothing in this episode, or the previous, really did anything at all to continue the main plot at all. Both these episodes just felt like filler or content that would have previously been placed in an OVA and bundled with the blu-ray. And sure, I’m glad more shows are doing accurate adaptions of the source materials. I’ve always hated when a show cuts and changes the story in massive ways. But can I really say these two episodes were really worth the time.

But I also wonder if this is just a general issue with Spy X Family at this point. Even the manga has felt like it doesn’t know where to go or how to proceed for some reason. Hasn’t had any real character development I can point to in many chapters. The relationship between Loid and Yor has pretty much come to a standstill, Anya and her school life and friends is the same as previously, and the whole plot around Anya getting the stars just has vanished. I still think it is an enjoyable manga, and therefor anime, but I question what their goal is anymore. Is it to just go forever and milk the series for millions in merch and physical sales. As I see new merch and games getting released for the series constantly.
