I gotta love Cid, he is such an idiot who manages to just wander into these events constantly. Incredibly overpowered and just does whatever he thinks might be cool. In this case saving his sister without thinking she might have been in serious danger at all. And than just causally killing the sub-boss in a single stroke mid-victory. Honestly, doesn’t he know your supposed to let the villain finish monologuing, only the right thing to do.

In contrast to the silly plot of Cid just being overpowered. Mary and Claire are out here having serious deep conversations and hearts-to-hearts. Revealing their secrets in powerful moments only fitting characters on the lead up to boss fights. I do kinda enjoy completely swapping the normal traditional flow of things in this anime.
