Attack on Titan : Episode 23
Current Episode Score: 6
So the big reveal after all these episodes is Annie was the female titan, which is pretty obvious since they look the same. But honestly I have more questions about the logistics of the whole event actually. Because unless Annie has a hidden teleporter someplace, I don’t see how she has moved so quickly. She apparently managed to leave the military barracks and travel to the scouting squads training grounds, steal a 3-D device and kill the titans and leave. All without nobody noticing she left. And than to make it worse, she somehow went on a a multi-day trip out into the woods, a trip that required horses because of the long distance, and returned. So did she just turn into a titan and run back, if so how did nobody notice? Or question why this girl just walked into the city from outside the walls randomly. The logistics of the whole thing makes no sense.
And than add on the actual episode, which is based around them planning this operation to capture her. Talk about unnecessarily convoluted. So the plan is to trick her into going underground with some idea that they are helping Eren escape. I kinda think the whole thing was built around the shock value of Annie being the titan was a stronger motivation than writing a good set-up for this final confrontation. I mean if you think she is the titan, wouldn’t you start off the trap with an actual trap. Set up a pit-fall, a net, use those apparently unbreakable steel cables they have. So many better ideas than convincing her to walk into an enclosed space. And where did this come from anyway, if you somehow didn’t notice the similarities between the two characters. There has been zero discussion or theories in the show about who the female titan was until this moment, making this feel super random and just forced.
