86 EIGHTY-SIX : Episode 2

Ok, so we have managed to get a bit of background information on the world and nations I guess. Though I don’t have a clue how much is true, I feel like it might be like 60% truth. I feel we are still missing a ton of info though, mostly revolving around why those inside are different from those outside.

So the Legion faction attacked and wiped out the original army. So they created an alternative quickly and retreated behind their walls to defend against the Legion. But, it still leaves many questions for me. How did they manage to create an alternative army of these spider mechs to defend against the Legion, while in full retreat from the enemy and being completely beaten at every moment. And to continue, if their army is truly superior to the Legion, why do they only attempt to hold the line and not push their advantage. I can only think that their technology to communicate with the 86ers are limited, so they would lose control of them if they pushed outside of a range. Or the Legion just does not care about them at all, they are being attacked by the weakest Legion troupes while the Legion deals with a bigger issue elsewhere on the battlefield with the actual army. Ether way, I could easily see a story being developed from it. I do have some worry about overconfidence, which is pushing me more to the second option. They aren’t properly outfitting and maintaining their military, with the troops scavenging parts to repair their mechs. And I feel that overconfidence will lead to their defeat quickly by the end, and along the way the destruction and death of most of their army.

I find it interesting that they do have military terms of 6 years, after which they are supposed to retire to more civilian life. I can’t see this being the actual end of service though. Their reactions weren’t that of a group who would be excited to leave. Instead I feel like you never make it off the battlefield, perhaps just transferring to a different area. This is a large city, and obviously information is limited and influenced. So the possibility that different age soldiers are fighting in different areas, while the handlers know nothing about it, is rather high.

As the show progresses, I think I can already kinda tell what will happen. I do believe we will get a couple more episodes of fighting and growth. With Milizé growing closer and closer to the group, and mainly the Undertaker, possibly even getting attracted to this figure she constructs in her mind of him. Along the way we will get more death of various members of the group, and see Milizé along with the group deal with these events. Than for the half-way point we get a major turning point. Whatever this event is, it will lead to Milizé venturing outside of the city to meet the group directly and work to solve the issue. With Milizé learning about a different perspective and knowledge that those outside have, and seeing how they live.

Overall, I am still loving the show. And still want to see how it progresses. But of course it has many chances to stumble, it needs to continue on strong, because I can see this show falling hard and fast if it messes up along the way.
