Things are building up to the climax of the arc, after Kotoko has lead the group to making all these various theories to just tell them they were wrong and what the correct one was the whole time. In the end Rion really tried fairly hard, and with anybody but Kotoko her explanation would have passed with no issues. It is just Kotoko is using information that Rion doesn’t have, and therefor could never adjust her theory properly.
