With every episode his girl power slowly increases, and he gets farther and farther from who he used to be. It is a fun and enjoyable journey as Mahiro slowly opens up more to the people around him, and regains some of the enjoyment I figure he would have had growing up if he wasn’t constantly trying to catch up to Mihari.
