Robotics;Notes : Episode 13

I think I’m enough episodes in now that I can confidently say this isn’t nearly as good a show as Steins Gate was. The general story telling and flow of the show just isn’t nearly as good. And the actual plot of the show just kinda feels messy. You have multiple different plot threads running at once, that are vaguely related at the moment. And it just doesn’t feel like any one of them is super strong and carrying the show.

Part of the issue I wonder is how the cast interactions and finds themselves involved in the larger plot. Steins Gate the characters themselves kinda force things forward, and really feel like they are directly involved with the time travel events. Meanwhile in Robotics Notes, thus far the cast doesn’t feel like they have directly influenced really anything, things just kinda happen while they are there as well. It just doesn’t give nearly as strong an impression.

Related, I didn’t actually realize how old the characters in Robotics Notes were meant to be at all. Apparently they are all essentially 18, and yet it really doesn’t feel it at all. Steins Gates characters were also 18, but felt much older and focused on progressing their goals. I don’t feel that same thing at all from Robotics Notes. In the end I don’t know if this is an adaption issue I’m having, or just a much worse source material they are adapting.
