Chainsaw Man : Episode 1

And onto Chainsaw Man, I know this show has a ton of hype and excitement around it because the manga is apparently very good. Well I know nothing about the source material, never read a chapter or watched a preview of the show. Only thing I know is the cover art. And thus far I think I’m interested, they have started off with a pretty good episode. They also did an amazing job making it feel super long and kept me interested the entire time, I was shocked that it wasn’t a longer episode than it was. And for me, that is a sign of something good if they can keep my interest and make it feel much longer than 25min.

Second part of this for me in the animation. We are getting yet another show with some really good animation this season, honestly this is an absolutely amazing season for high production quality shows. And I really hope they all can keep it going. This particular show looks to be pretty much entirely 3D CGI, except unlike other shows that have used it in the past that I’ve complained about. Looking at you Ghost in the Shell SAC 2045, this show does a really good job with it and shows off the potential and the strength of 3D CGI. Sure it has some of the normal issues with character movement never really feeling fluid, it always seems to have a slight stutter and unnatural quality to it. But when they use it well in some really good fight scenes, I can apologize and over-look some of the bad animation in places.
