RWBY: Ice Queendom : Episode 8

I find the contrast between IQ and the original Web Animation interesting. Especially when it comes to the pacing of the show and how much progress actually takes place. The original set-up multiple groups as being good friends, had multiple really well animated fights with great music, and set-up and completely sub plot lines and was well on the way to setting up the larger plot of the war at this point from a time invested viewpoint. And when you look at IQ, it just doesn’t have any of that. None of these groups of characters feel fleshed out, the groups don’t really feel like friends, and they haven’t had that many fights or memorable songs. They also are still stuck on this same plot point for the entire show, that ends up having a major issue for me.

They aren’t themselves inside the dream. We have been following characters for many episodes now who have completely different designs from who they are outside the dream. And the few battles they fight are completely different from outside the dream due to weapon changes. So we haven’t even been watching the same characters fight with the same weapons for the vast majority of the show.
