Eureka Seven AO : Episode 4

Show still hasn’t really grabbed me, and if anything has kinda disappointed me in some ways. To start with the major fight of the episode, that was really dull and uninteresting. They set up this fight as something major that will effect the whole island, a major threat. And than it is dealt with in half the episode, and just needed Ao to fly up to it and shoot it a couple times and blow up a gun inside it. Where was the threat? Why did they even make a big deal of it if that is how easily it gets defeated. I was expecting to have an entire episode or two dedicated to Ao getting really used to flying and fighting, really getting a hang of and understanding what he needs to do. Instead it is all just kinda glanced over and finished up super quick.

Second disappointment of the episode is that apparently Ao and Naru are separating. At least for now I guess, I’m gonna figure she has a role to play later due to her locate in the character chart. But it disappoints me when the obvious love interests and where the majority of the character development will happen, between these two characters. Is just completely put on hold for an indeterminate amount of episodes till they are rejoined. It has happened in all media, and I have never really ever seen it work out well. They are never rejoined in the end with me feeling the separation made it a better story or better character development, it always feels like they didn’t really know what to do with the character development so decided to just not do it.

I guess the show is still early on, still got 20 episodes to go still. So I shall be sticking with it and seeing how it manages to develop from here.
