Black★Rock Shooter (TV) : Episode 6

They are really pushing the whole Black Rock Shooter stuff and the other world at this point. Like that has become the entire point of the with this episode. And yet, I still don’t understand it or know where it came from.

Why do these select characters have alternates that are fighting in this other world? Are they special? Or is it related to them having connections to other characters that make them have fighters? The other world has just been so poorly built up and explained that really it makes it hard to get invested in this. I don’t know any of the rules and the stakes are vague, so I can’t get invested in the outcome.
