Gosick : Episode 8

So I’m a pretty decent spot in this show, with episode 8 out of 24. And I think my opinions of the show are starting to be better formed now. Though I don’t think they have changed all that much.

I fully believe this is one of many shows, that they decided to try and adapt too much of the Light Novel source in one go. When we get episodes like this one, that honestly loose a bunch of satisfaction with me. We go from major event that should be the final part in the mystery to mystery being solved in minutes. Victorique just solves the things in an incredible pace without any issue or discussion, and wraps it all up within minutes. Which is great I guess, expect it leaves me feeling rather unsatisfied. And I can’t help but feel like in the source this has more meat, that they dedicated probably a whole 50 pages or so to just solving and working through the mystery and her thought process. Which I’m guessing just straight gets cut from the show.

Overall I’m really liking the characters though, despite the issues I have with the mystery and pacing. I like the characters and how they are progressing. I like how much they are showing of that progress, we aren’t getting much of that cut at all I feel. And I honestly think that is kinda the main focus of the show and not the mystery. They wanted a good character development and slow romance growing between characters and less of the mystery aspect.

In the end I’m gonna keep watching the show going forward. Keep pushing through the rest of this season and onto the next. It isn’t terrible thus far, I just don’t think it is all that amazing ether.
