Corpse Factory – VN Game Review

Published by ThyMrMan on

I’d say this is an interesting attempt at a lower budget visual novel. Though I would classify it more as a kinetic novel than a visual novel myself. Technically it does have some choices unlike a normal kinetic novel, but they don’t really have the effect on the story I would expect from a normal visual novel.

But it does do some things really well. The game looks great, has some really good artwork and character design. And the voice actors and music in the game works and sounds great. Just really everything about the presentation of the game looks amazing. And I have no complaints there.

My main complaints would be with the story. It works fine in a silly and stupid kinda way. A story that you immediately realize you can’t take serious after just a couple hours. But the initial presentation made me hope it would be something else, something it just wasn’t. It also has issues with character motivations and development, nothing about it really felt natural. Sure they are all broken individuals with various issues, but I don’t feel like any of them progressed in any way related to those issues. And decisions are made purely to move the story forward and at times for pure shock value.

I say I’m pretty neutral on this game, kinda a 6/10 situation. It isn’t very long and took me 8 hours to finish. And I enjoyed it enough in the end, and guess I’m satisfied when I finished it. But at the same time left disappointed. Maybe buy on a sale if you want to play.
