Pokémon Horizons : Episode 15
Current Episode Score: 6
This felt like a very awkward episode when it came to Dot. All we know about this character thus far stems from them being somebody who doesn’t want to leave the ship. Is scared or has some phobia or something, that makes them inclined to stay in their room. Taking it to extremes to not even want to go to the cafeteria to get food. So just having Dot decide with no fan fair or conflict to leave is just odd. I was expecting Dot to leave during a dedicated arc for her, with some person conflict and good character growth. Instead it just kinda happens, and I’m kinda disappointed. Sure she wants to help Liko, but there is no real personal growth or conflict for Dot.
Going back to Liko and the hypnotism, that also felt very odd. As we got an entire episode of Liko being chased around apparently confused why she was there and not sure what to do. Decided to do crazy things while apparently caught up in this streamers game, like jumping between buildings. And never once stopped to ask for assistance or question why she was in this situation. And when the episode ends, she just casually breaks out of the hypnotism with no effort at all. No conflict or growth was necessary, nothing happened to snap her out of it. Just was fine and back to normal.
Not really sure, this episode just didn’t work very well. I don’t know if it was rushed, or they have some deadline they needed to hit. But it just didn’t work at all.
Which I guess also applies to the villain group. I don’t feel any connection to them at all. Nether villain we have meet yet I know anything about or feel any particular way about at all. Thus far they just seem like a random group who shows up with some new pokemon to let the viewers learn about it. Not a clue about their goals or organization, just some generic bad guys.
