Eureka Seven AO : Episode 7

With how long it took to me get around to watching this episode, you could probably guess how much I actually care about this show at this point already. I’ve just kinda lost interest in it already. And I think I am going to end up just dropping the show altogether. Sure it is the sequel to Eureka Seven, a show I really did love. It is one of my favorite shows ever really. But this show just doesn’t seem to evoke any of the emotions from me at all.

By this point in the story, I don’t like any of the characters. None of them I enjoy or like watching, and I haven’t seen them have any growth at all yet. And given we are a third of the way through the show, that is concerning. In fact I’m annoyed at the character choices that they have made thus far, you had the set-up for a great childhood romance and they have just thrown that out. Along with the easy possible character development there, and I don’t see who would replace that. And given one of the main things I loved from the original was the romance, yea that is disappointing.

I also don’t think the fights or animation is all that strong or makes a case on it’s own to make it worthy of continuing. It is just really boring generic animation that doesn’t stand out in any way to shows that came out in the same time frame.

Than you get to the actual episode itself, which is just confusing. We are fighting Truth, which is a terrible name for an enemy, who we know nothing about. He is just some shapeshifter birthed from I guess Scrub Coral who randomly has shown up and is now destroying things after being teased in the previous episode. And he is apparently seeking the truth? What does that mean?

And than we have the actual events of the episode, you have a confrontation between Ao and Truth. That doesn’t exist? Or existed in some odd dream world, because apparently Truth can just put people into a dream state. Also apparently Naru is supporting Truth because he helped her in the past and is choosing Truth over Ao. Despite the fact that Ao supported her for years on the island and was her really good friend, she is instead choosing to go with some complete stranger she just meet. It makes no sense.

I’m seriously debating if I want to watch another episode of the show. And I honestly don’t think I do. I’ve got so many better shows I’m enjoying far more. That I just don’t really see forcing myself to finish this show out just to give it a bad review in the end and be annoyed at spending so much time on something I didn’t like.
