Eureka Seven AO : Episode 1

So I guess I would say I’m cautiously enthusiastic about this show. While I loved the prequel and I gave it a 9, it was also 4 years ago in 2018. And my thoughts on anime and scoring have changed a whole bunch over that time. But also just looking at the general average score this show has, it is much lower. So much lower that it makes me seriously concerned about the future, but I’m gonna stick with an open mind for now.

Like this first episode, there was a decent amount in this that I liked. I do like the characters, Ao and Naru are both interesting. But almost more importantly they seem to have a decent romance starting between them, I just hope the show actually capitalizes on that and allows it to actually grow and have them interact. Kinda worried that starting off with Naru going missing/killed already sets a bad precedent for how much they may get to interact and grow together. Also what is up with that sloth, that is so bloody random that I just kinda love it. Like most people have pet cats or dogs, maybe a rodent or reptile. But a sloth, yea that is a first for me.

To be honest I don’t remember much about the Eureka Seven world, and were it was left at the end of the prequel. Been a really long time and have forgotten much about the world, but I am interested to see where things go from here. We have multiple countries involved in territory disputes, and mercenaries being hired to assist them in doing things they couldn’t do themselves. Along with what seems to be mega-corporations that are literally negotiating for the survival of islands and thousands of peoples lives for a profit and maybe knowledge. It seems like it could easily get dark.

Also random note, the fact that they have traffic lights and have to stop for traffic. While in flying cars is just kinda super silly. Like it just feels like something that just shouldn’t exist. Just fly around to the back, why wait?
