KOWLOON GENERIC ROMANCE : Episode 11
Current Episode Score: 7
Another really big episode for bringing things together in the story and starting to explain some things. The fact that Kowloon is just a recreation of what Kudo remembers is really crazy, and makes it easy to find the various issues with his recreation now. Though it has issues now with the question of how and why of course. I’m going to assume this is the main question that will get answered over the next 2 episode I hope, as it seems to be one of the biggest plot points now.
One thing I’m still really not certain of is what would happen if Reiko left Kowloon. I’m honestly not sure if she would vanish, I feel like the rules around that are kinda murky. We saw that the clothes that Xiaohei had vanished when he walked out, but the new part of the outfit with more solid memories around them remained. So I wonder if things with strong emotional attachments can survive the transition somehow, which could also apply to Reiko. Reiko is also the only thing inside that seems completely different than the rest since she already died and the Miyuki mentioned that she didn’t have the same perfect appearance.
Also when they left Kowloon Youmei and Xiaohei suddenly could no longer see the city. Which if it based around regret it makes sense. Both of them made peace with their regrets and were moving forward when they left, so the reason they could originally see the city vanished. I am going to assume that at least Youmei will be able to see the city again in the future, based on the regret of not being able to see Reiko again.
Also by this point I have fully caught up to the current translation of the manga. Which the anime by this point has also passed. Though the manga seems to have another 2 volumes in JP ahead of the translation, as is unfortunately and very annoying standard in the manga translation industry it seems. But I don’t believe the manga is actually finished, so it will be interesting to see how they actually do what seems to be an anime original ending.
