Well that was a pretty good final episode for this show, and I guess wrapped things up pretty well. But really I just want to comment on that battle that took place.

I think they must have held back their entire CGI budget for that single episode. Because man was that fight looking really good, and showed off what CGI is capable of for once in the show. So much happening across various scenes. And all of it was just so fluid and well animated, that I just haven’t really seen in this show. Honestly this stuff is what always disappoints me about CGI anime, they can have very good looking episodes and fights. But than it just kinda falls apart in between when they can’t spend as much, and it just doesn’t look nearly as good.

Also want to point out we never did get a backstory for the entire human crew at all. Like they were a vital part of the show, and never really got a proper introduction or flashback to why they are here, or how they got here.

In the end, I don’t really know if the show really succeeded for me fully. In that I still don’t really have any interest in reading the manga. I feel satisfied enough I guess with just the anime, and future movies. That I just don’t really want to read the manga. Plus seeing the manga is still on-going is just kinda a red flag that it has just started to drag on forever given it started in 2009. That is a long time for what should be a pretty simple manga.
