Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Season 2 : Episode 11

Well that isn’t the way I was expecting things to go at all. In the end Eri/Aerial died protecting Suletta and Prospera from a giant space laser. Honestly some things I really didn’t expect ended up happening in this episode, like I honestly didn’t expect Suletta to go through the whole thing and not end up having some issues due to the permit link. Or how really nobody outside Eri/Aerial ended up dying, I was expecting some final deaths at least. And you know, a giant space laser also wasn’t really in any of my predictions. Though now that it has been used once, and failed, I do wonder how it moves forward from here. Like putting it off as a mistake or a failure doesn’t really work if it happens twice.

Now some things that didn’t really work that well in this final episode, and kinda just feel contrived in order to finish up the conflict. Stuff like Miorine hacking the computer system in moments while under fire to learn the new password, which is a callback to the genetic code mentioned many episodes ago. I don’t really know if I’ve missed something with that, but it feels like I did.

As for the next episode, I don’t really know how things get cleaned up from here. I’m guessing we get a half-episode time-skip moment. At the same time, I think this show could have done with some more episodes to flesh out this second cour a bit more. Honestly maybe even a third cour would have been for the best. Many of the major events and developments in this second cour have felt a bit weak and underdeveloped, because we just don’t have enough time with them.
