LAZARUS : Episode 13

Tough final episode of this show really. In full at least it all gets wrapped up with this episode, and the mystery is solved. This whole thing was Skinner playing what seemed to be a very high stakes game with the world in order to reveal the existence of a biological weapon. And if he failed a bunch of people would die from his drug. I just don’t really understand his motivations at all, this was such a messy and rushed final episode that didn’t expand on his motivations enough at all.

And than you can jump over to Axel and his fight with this brainwashed assassin that has consumed far too much time. Which also I don’t understand what the point of it was at all. What important plot information was gained from that fight, what did we learn about Axel from it. And why was it important enough to dedicate this much time to it, outside of wanting some cool fight scenes. That desire to have cool scenes harmed this show immensely, instead of what could have been a detailed mystery show of following the clues to track somebody down. We had to divert so many times for yet another action scene that largely just wasted time.

Finally of course we have the biggest issue with the plot of this show, the hapuna cure that would have been impossible to distribute to everyone world wide at all. No matter how big of a threat hapuna was, it was not being created and distributed that quickly at all. In fact, why was there basically no visible signs about the global unrest that you would have from a situation like this. Hapuna is threatening to kill most of the global population, and yet every shot with normal people they are just walking around like nothing matters at all.

In total this is just another failure of an original show to add to the very large pile. Every time I watch an original show and hope for the best. And every time I walk away disappointed by how poorly they used their time. Can directors and writers just no longer create an original store that fights in the number of episodes they are given anymore?
