One-Punch Man Season 3 : Episode 1

So season 3 of One-Punch Man. It has been some time since season 2, and I honestly don’t remember very much at all about the show. But I can’t be bothered, have the time, or care that much about watching the first 2 seasons again. But, we are here with season 3 and I think I can pick up most of it pretty quick.

Now for the first episode in a couple years, I am very unimpressed. This might be one of the worst exposition episodes I’ve seen in a while. The entire episode is just talking about the current situation, which is fine, they need to set up the world and get things in order after the big fight in season 2. But that doesn’t excuse how boring the episode actual was. 20min of watching essentially still unanimated characters, with at most a moving mouth is very boring. You can make interesting exposition episodes, have the characters walking and talking or doing stuff doing the conversations. Or give various scene changes and world building using the visuals at the same time. Anything that isn’t just a bunch of characters not moving and talking, that is I think the worst way you could have done this.

And the fact that nothing happened at all in the episode, means I have nothing else to talk about. The characters, I didn’t learn anything about them or gain more info. I guess Sonic in the post credits scene got a moment of learning about whatever change is happening with him, but it was thrown in as an afterthought in the credits most people will forget to even watch. And some random unnamed background characters got some powerful suits, and than I guess got hit by a whip in a still image and turned into monsters or slaves and somehow got new suits? I just have nothing at all to go on with this episode, this was just very disappointing. I honestly just feel bad for any hardcore fans of the franchise who have been waiting since 2019 for another season, and this is the first episode. I very much hope things improve in future episodes.
