And after remembering that this episode existed, which I really should have just watched immediately after the first season so I didn’t forget about it like I did. So after another 23 minutes that essentially redid the final episode, was it better.

Well I think it requires the original episode 12 still, and really this could have been a supercut of both episodes combined. But given this was the directors cut, I really don’t know what to make of it. It finally answered the confusion I had at the end of the original in terms of what was going on with Hajime. Instead of leaving it on that odd moment of her talking to herself, there is actual context around it. While I don’t know if the director originally wanted the fights and action from episode 12, I do wonder if this would have been better as a pure episode 13. But with this, I can finally move onto the second season.
